March 28, 1863 to March 19, 1864This book is 11 1/4\" by 16 1/2\" by 2 3/4\", hardcover. It contains articles about current events. The pictures are particularly fabulous, artist renditions, many printed on 2 or 3 page fold-outs. This volume contains two sought-after subjects; Lincoln\'s Dedication Ceremony at Gettysburg and a wonderful picture of Ulysses S. Grant.
The brown hardcover is not in good condition, split, taped and scuffed and the pages show rough edges.
Lincoln\'s Dedication Ceremony is published in the Dec. 5, 1863 issue, 16 pages. In addition to the actual article and illustrations it quotes the original Gettysburg Address, not exactly as we memorized it in school. These pages are in very good condition, with only 3 minor flaws: page 165 has a small hole in the upper margin, page 167 has another small hole, again in the upper margin and page 168 has a 1/2\" tear in the lower corner margin.
On March 19, 1864 they published a fold-out picture of Ulysses S. Grant on a magnificent horse. These pages are in excellent condition.
Those two crucial sections are in very good condition. The rest of the book -- only good. There are a few badly damaged pages in this volume. Two examples are: On July 18, 1863 The Invasion of Pennsylvania has a 6\" tear and a 1\" hole; On June 20, 1863 The Battle of Vicksburg fold-out has a long split along the fold line. Of course, there are many flaws too small to note, but most pages are good, Also, the page numbering makes it difficult to tell if something is missing.
