Alcott wrote in her journal onApril 1863: “Received $100 from Frank Leslie for a tale which won the prize last Jan. Paid debts and was glad that my winter bore visible fruit.”14pp. Edgeworn, some small tears and one larger tear (6\"), last two leaves missing paper at top outer corner, old glue residue on rear.
