Thisis a selection of 2 vintage Chess Game Set Pieces from the FranklinMint. The Bishop Figures are made of Pewter on a Brass Base with aEnamel Band. These Union Generals have a Blue Enamel painted Bandwith a Blue felt bottom. I found these pieces were sold separatelyyears ago for almost $40. On a search I found “In 1983, theFranklin Mint released a commemorative edition chess set rememberingthe Civil War. Each piece of the set is made of pewter andindividually sculpted to resemble one of the key players in the war.Rather than having white and black pieces, the set is split into blueand gray, with each piece being marked with a strip of colored enamelpaint around its base.” I also found “George Gordon Meade(December 31, 1815 – November 6, 1872) was a career United StatesArmy officer and civil engineer involved in coastal construction,including several lighthouses.
