For nearly a quarter-century, the Harley-Davidson® Heritage Softail® Classic has been the dominating force in the touring bike field. It’s no accident. With each year, with each new model, Harley continues to add those refinements designed to keep the Softail® on the inside track of style and performance. Since its introduction in 1986, the Softail® has maintained the reputation for ease in handling, reliability and the smooth suspension that inspires its name. And model year 2007 is no exception. Standby essentials such as wind protection, low seat height, and roomy passenger and luggage space are still there, to be sure. But newer features abound, such as the detachable windshield and passenger seat for a more customized look. These, combined with its early dresser style, make for a nostalgic feel and look. In fact, the 2007 Softail® is the definitive study in nostalgia, presenting the classic appearance of a hardtail look combined with that cushy, concealed rear suspension. But the big story for 2007 is the new Twin Cam 96B™ engine. The new powertrain emerges as a result of the biggest new-engine program in the history of Harley-Davidson. While maintaining the essential look and feel of the traditional Big Twin models, the new engine now displaces 96 cubic inches (1,584 cc), a 9% increase, as well as a 17% increase in torque. Operating Features of this Model

Kickstand: The kickstand is located on the gear-shift side of the frame below the left footrest.
Wheels: The front and rear wheels roll freely and the front wheel assembly pivots authentically on the frame at the steering neck.
Front Suspension: The front forks have been fitted with springs to simulate a motorcycle’s suspension.
Rear Suspension: Cleverly hidden, the full travel of the rear suspension can be demonstrated by gently pressing down on the seat while steadying the model with your hand.
Drive Belt: Connected to the rear wheel, the drive belt rotates when the wheel is rolled.
Gear Shift Lever: Located on the lower front of the frame opposite the exhaust pipes. It has several stop locations when rocked back and forth to simulate the various gear positions.
