These handsome folding bookends were purchased in Florence, Italy at the famous FRATELLI ALINARI shop in the 1970s. They havescenes of a painting believed to be by Ambrogio Lorenzetti -CITTA SUL MARE - TOWN ON THE SEA- and the colors are vibrant. The edges and the backs are painted in gold leaf. Each bookend measures 5 inches by 6 1/2 inches and can be folded when not in use. There is some minor wear around the edges but otherwise their condition is excellent.
