Woolen blade ring (cravate de sabre) tomeasure for XVIII° and Empire Frenchand European swords made according the original process, 35years experience; I supply collectorsand museums all over the world. The wool is dyed garance (red), yellow or green withvegetal plants as it was in 1800’s. Each ring is made to measure to tally with the dimensions of each blade just below the handle. This device was used in French andEuropean armies to protect the blade from wetness, it made tightness with thescabbard. In the 1800’s, all swords (sabres, lattes, briquets) had such adevice, but nearly all of them are lost today. In the 1850’s it wasreplaced by buffalo-leather patches.
