This is a unique piece , highly collectible. It\'s a vintage French Santon De Provence Folk Art Doll by artist S. Jouglas, with his signature on the base. The doll represents a women dressed in a traditional costume of Southern France, Provence region. She represents a fish vendor. In her right hand she holds a scale while in the left hand she holds a basket with two fish. . These dolls are made of a terra cotta clay and then painted. She is in excellent like-new condition with no flaws. She stands 12\" high, the base is 3\" in diameter. Each part of her costume is original and handmade in the typical fabrics distinctive of Provence. . She is wearing a quilted skirt of printed colored material, green blouse with a shawl with lace trimmings. On her head she wears a white bonnet also with lace trimmings. The ensemble is completed by a green/red apron. The feet are painted and molded on the stand. Her face is a work of art in itself-just look at charming expression. The fine detail that was used when creating this doll is astonishing. She is very beautiful. It was purchased in France in early 1970s
