French France Spelter Peasant Pair Statues Metal Vintage Garden Bronze Duck Bird:

You are viewing a pair of French statues of a man and a woman each carrying an animal in one hand and waving with the other hand. It was purchased pre-2000 from an antique dealer in Greenwich, CT who purchased them in France. They do not have any markings that I can see but are quite charming! The paint is worn off in a way that gives them a lot of character and a wonderful patina! Color is bronze and a verdi green. Bases are also metal. I am unsure of the metal underneath the paint but it looks to have more of the gray/silver spelter than a bronze/gold tone. I know these have considerable age but am not sure exactly how old. They look lovely in a bookcase, on a table or in a garden/sunroom.

Both: Bases are 4 1/4\" across
