~ French Napoleonic Prisoner of War Straw Work Picture Lord Nelson ~The central panel of this very fine early 19th work has a profile of Lord Horatio Nelson, victor at the battle of Trafalgar 1805, guarded by two angels above his tomb with the words \'IMORTAL NELSON\'.In the lower right hand corner are the Union Jack and his Admiral of the Red Flags. To the lower left of the main panel is Britannia.There are numerous panels decorated with a mixture of ancient Greek figures.The picture has been reframed but retains its original cow bone slip, a nice touch.The work is of the finest quality with a good graduation of tones.These works were constructed from materials to hand by captured French soldiers and sailors.~ Dimensions ~The pictures size is 12 inches (30.5 cm) wide and 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and the frame size is 15 inches (38 cm) wide, 15 inches (38 cm) tall and 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) deep. It weighs 1.75 Kg.~ Condition ~The picture is in a good condition for it\'s age. There are straw sections missing - most noticeable in the lower, right quadrant. It presents very well.
