French Normandy Cloth Pillow Cover Handmade Brussels Alencon Mechlin Fabulous!

This is a lovely French Normandy Antique Tray cloth or Pillow layover.

Nearly all the Antique Normandy pieces sold today are hand assembled machine laces.

This piece however is composed of handmade laces, making it much more rare and collectible.

There is Brussels Applique in the center, 6\" x 2\" inch strips of quite rare Alencon handmade needle lace above and below the center with both reseau ordinaire and petite reseau, handmade Mechlin on each corner. with other bobbin and needle run laces as well as hand embroidered muslin strips.

Over all measures 11 inches high (28 cm) x 17 inches length (43 cm).

Condition is very good overall. The mechlin ground on each corner has small openings in the lace (shown). A couple other tiny breaks that are only noticed under magnification.

This can be used as a tray cloth, however it has some billowing on the corners and I believe it was intended as a pillow layover.
