A wonderful French silver \"permanent match\" lighter made by French silversmith Auguste Peyroula between 1904 and 1937. The pull-out match/wick nestles in the reservoir case which should contain lighter fluid. Striking the match/wick along the recess at the side of the case produces the flame. This sophisticated item remains in very good vintage condition.The case,which has a loop for attaching to a chain, is decorated simply and attractively with parallel lines, and there is a decorative script monogram TMJ in the oval cartouche. There are two boar\'s head marks to the outside of the case – a mark used specially for French cigarette lighters.A classy antique and a delightful talking point the next time someone asks you for a light!Size: 1 3/4 x 1 x 1/4in/4.5 x 2.5 x 0.6cm.
