Frith\'s Cosmoscope is a very rare viewer made in England in the mid 19e century. (43 x 38 cm)

It give an impression of depth to the image being viewed. This is achieved by using a large lens and a

curved support for the image. The viewer is also intended for viewing panoptique tissue views that give the effect of day and night. The viewer is designed to fold neatly into its

burr walnut veneered mahogany transport case. The cabinet-making is of high quality, and the lid is inlaid with an attractive boxwood design.

The viewer comes with one albumen print that slips under the curved lid, and 5 Frith\'s Series Albumen Prints, approx 6.5 x 8.5 inch, on card mounts that give the effect of

changing from monochrome to colour.
