London: George Wintle - 2 troy oz - Old English Pattern

This is a lovely rare GEORGIAN solid sterling silver table or serving spoon that was made in London, England in 1808, by the illustrious Georgian silversmith, George Wintle at his Bunhill Row workshops. It is in the Old English pattern. It measures 8 1/4\" long and is 1 3/4\" across its bowl. This piece of cutlery weighs60.8 grams -virtually 2troy oz. It is engraved to the handle with the monogram P.

It is in very good condition for its age with just the usual surface scratching than you\'d expect for its age, NO splits or repairs,without the usual dimpling to the bowl but almost none of the usual wear to the leading edge and without the common thinning to the bowl - see photograph - SUPERB. It is hallmarked on the reverse of the handle with G.W,lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), crowned leopard head, N, George III duty markshowing that it was hallmarked in London in 1808. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A rare Georgian solid silver table spoon after over 205 years and at a very low start!!!!
