GERMAN WWII VINTAGE BARB WIRE, EARLY VERSION, NORMANDY, D-DAY, OSTFRONT:
$7.85

Original vintage early war German WWII Wehrmacht barb wire Stacheldraht, a piece 40 cm long taken from the German stronghold on Hel Peninsula, Poland, Baltic Sea. Identical like this had been used on Normandy beaches of the D-Day and in many places on the Eastern Front. It is much different from late war German barb wire, it is heavier, and very solid. The nails are longer. Hel Peninsula is a 35-km-long sand bar peninsula in northern Poland separating the Bay of Puck from the open Baltic Sea. After the peninsula became part of the Second Polish Republic after World War I, it acquired considerable military significance, and was turned into a fortified region, with a garrison of about 3,000. In the course of the Battle of Hel in 1939, Polish forces dynamited the peninsula at one point, turning it into an island. During the years of German occupation (1939–1945), Hel\'s defenses were further expanded, and a battery of three 40.6 cm SK C/34 gun was constructed. Also many other bunkers, shelters and other fortifications had been build by the Germans. Germans were also using earlier Polish bunkers, so they could used Polish barb wire of course. The Wehrmacht made the Hel a sea-fortress, very similar to those on La Manche Channel Islands, but much bigger. The peninsula remained in German hands until the end of World War II, when the defending forces surrendered on May 14, 1945, six days after Germany had capitulated. Please take a look to the photos of a place, where exactly that piece had been found, with the rest of the wap on German positions (see below and in the photo gallery). You can buy a symbolic little piece of German WWII fortification. Original WW2 item of the Wehrmacht. The piece I\'m selling is good condition, it is not corroded inside.
Shipping cost to USA is 16$. Shipping cost to Europe is 14$
