WAS $12,500 then dropped to $9500.00 now $7500.00 with no best offer available What a Clock A French gilt-bronze cartel clock In the Louis XV style,Circa1880Surmounted by a sunburst, with Cupid in a chariot with doves, the shaped case flanked by scrolling foliage, centered by a circular bronze dial with enamel numbers, the twin-train movement withcount-wheelstrike, above the waisted lower part with pierced front panel and a group of Cupid and Psyche above an acanthus finialPlease reference item #290583624279 which shows the exact clock as mine but having a bearded Man below instead of my Cupid and Psyche and approx 12\" taller in size and it\'s for sale for only 44 thousand dollars. Also looking at Google images under Cartel Clock after Jacques Caffieri you may see close to my exact clock atChristie\'sthat sold for approx 23 thousand dollars. My clock however is far below 1/2 the price it should bring on the Market. It is in Beautiful condition and is working perfectly. ThisFrench clock has a WONDERFUL looking Angel on top sitting in a Chariot being pulled by 2 Doves please see plate 2 , 3 &4 and below another Angel Draping a Sleeping Nude Woman (Pschye) with a throw (plate 5). My Cartel Clock is a Truly Magnificent French Clock that is bothRomantic, and Beautiful to see with its fabulousgilded casting of the case.

I BELIEVE IF IT WAS MY CLOCK IN THE CHRISTIES sale IT WOULD HAVE BROUGHT CONSIDERABLY MORE THEN THE 23 THOUSAND DOLLARS IT ATTAINED) At the very top you see the angel having a great expression on his face plus the Doves and right behind this trio you have what appears to be the rays of the Sun rising up. At the very bottom you again see an angel draping a garment overa beautiful and sleeping(Pschye).On the sides of this timepiece are leaves coming out and trailing up and down the sides of the Case. Making for one of the most attractive French clocks I have had in some time.The dial on this clock is also magnificent, it has a Convex Glass covering the dial while the face has embossed flowers all around and each of the Clocks numerals are hand painted porcelain plaques having black enamel on a white ground........................ As a rule with Putti or Angels or Cherubs they most always have generic faces to them, but not here, in this work of SculpturedBronze The faces of the Cherubs show expressions which to me sets this clock far apart from the many others I have come in contact with and owned. So it is a given that this beauty is a very high quality Cartel Clock which dates to the 1880s. It is entirely Gilt Bronze. The movement is a high quality French movement. This Timepiece is one that you will enjoy living with and showing off. The movementthe twin-train movement with countwheel striketells one the time of day, and needs not to be wound for 7 to 8 days. This is a stunning and visually super attractive Wall clock that will bring you many years of enjoyment, functionality, and bring continued Beauty to your Home.Examine the pictures closely.
