Vintage Franklin Mint 22K Plated GOLD COAST NECKLACE by Designer Mary McFadden

Designer Mary McFadden is well-known for her timeless and mesmerizing fashion jewellery rendered in 22K matte gold-plated metals and exquisite beads of glass, bone and other organic materials. Her opulent and intricate designs were inspired by ancient cultures of Asia, Africa and South & Central America.

This spectacular vintage piece, “The Gold Coast Necklace,” was designed by McFadden for the Franklin Mint in 1990. It is McFadden’s interpretation of the ancient artistic traditions of the esteemed Ashanti goldsmiths of the Gold Coast of Africa.

The curved centerpiece and side stations of the necklace feature a breathtaking intricacy of geometric design, lavishly plated in 22K matte gold. The gold-plated metal stations are enhanced by a double strand of garnet-colored baroque beads, individually knotted with black silk thread. The necklace fastens with a gold-plated open J hook and bold chain-link extender.

The overall condition of this exquisite necklace is excellent.

The necklace is adjustable in length from approx. 21 inches to 25-1/2 inches. The width of the centerpiece is approx. 3-1/4 inches in width x 1-1/4 inches in height. The garnet colored baroque beads are 9mm in diameter.
