GOOD ANTIQUE MAORI CARVED TWISTED WOODEN WALKING STICK W/ TIKI FACES NR
I will be selling a large number of interesting antiques including Tribal art, Chinese, Japanese, and European antiques. It is likely that I will be selling over two days so please check again on FRIDAY as there will probably be more pieces for salw. PLEASE NOTE: This sale is in GB Pounds Sterling.

This is an interesting antique Maori carved wooden walking stick and one of two I am selling this week. This example is looser in its style of carving than the other but still has the typical notch decoration which follows the natural twist of the wood. About a third of the way down there are two faces, one with moko designs, and both with very severe expressions. This example is probably slightly earlier in date than the other I am selling and I would date it to the late 19th or earliest part of the 20th Century. Consistent with most woodenware from this period it has had a varnish - Victorians and Edwardians did enjoy giving everything a coat of vanish but it remains a good strong piece of Maori art. I am selling it at a very low starting price and with .

Please read down the entire listing for Dimensions, Condition, Postage & Payment Details - most of the information you will need is here on this page but please get in touch if you don't find what you are looking for. Condition & Dimensions Very good overall condition. Light wear to the surface and a slight split in the chin of the larger face but no serious damage.

It measures about 38.25" / 97.2cms long.

Postage & Packing For your peace of mind and mine items will be sent fully insured. I will be posting from WEDNESDAY 20TH FEBRUARY to MONDAY 25TH FEBRUARY so payment must be received by SUNDAY 24TH at the very latest. PLEASE be a little patient with the post - I will get them posted asap but I work on my own, often have a fair amount to post and I do pack carefully.

Any delays by the postal services either at my end or abroad are rarely my fault. I always post out at the latest 3 working days after receiving cleared payment but sometimes an item is slowed up by a backlog of post or delayed whilst being processed through customs. To give you an idea it generally takes about 3-7 working days within Europe and 9 - 14 working days to the U.S. / rest of the world however, at this time of year, just before Christmas, the postage networks take slightly longer than normal so please bear this in mind! If speed is of the essence then I can use a courier (DHL / FEDEX etc.) but prices for couriers start at around £30 / £40GBP for the very smallest object and VERY quickly escalate depending on size, weight and destination. Please note also that there has been a considerable hike in postage prices by the Royal Mail this year. I add on very little, often not enough to cover the packaging materials, so the price I quote really is as fair as possible.

UK / Belgium: Parcelforce / Bpost: £15 GBP.

Rest Of The World: £53 GBP.- Belgian B-Post BPack World. This is a signed for service which offers full or limited tracking (depending on your country) and insurance. Please do not ask me to falsify customs documents, thank you. Where possible I will of course combine shipping for multiple purchases (however if, for example, you win a walking stick and a box of some description this wouldn't be very practical!).

Rest Of The World: PayPal only.
In the event of a recorded/traceable and insured item going missing in the post I will do everything in my power (provide proof of postage and evidence of value, etc.) to assist in obtaining a full refund from the postal service involved.

Finally, thank you for taking a look at my sale and please have a look at the other antiques I am saleing this week including a superb Native American Indian Plains tobacco or pipe bag; a very fine Napoleonic pow bone domino set; a Georgian carved coconut cup; a Micmac / Huron embroidered card case; several good Chinese jade carvings; two unusual Maori walking sticks; netsuke; a wonderful Tanzanian figural club; a Zulu prestige staff / knobkerrie; Chinese bronze censer with seal mark; a very fine coquilla nut snuff box and many more antique
