Gorgeous antique walnut, carved French double bed that dates to the 1880\'s. Each piece is signed \"DUFIN\". Honore\' Dufin was an award winning sculpture in France who was recognized as one of the greatest sculptures of his time. He died in 1892. Most pieces found today are sold through Sotheby\'s and other great sale houses. Dufin\'s furniture served the upper social class of France. This particular bed has a crest carved into the head board. It bears the initials of the family that it was made for. The crest alone is 14\" in width and 9.5\" in height. Dimensions of the bed include: headboard is 57\" in overall height, 55\" in width. Footboard measures 39\" in height and 55\" in width. Overall length of the bed is 76\". Each piece is hand carved and signed by Dufin. Note the tremendous detail in the side boards......unbelievable craftsmanship! Researching this master craftsman, most pieces sell in the $40,000 to $60,000 range. A similar, but slightly more carved detail bed was sold for $45,000.00Bed is made from solid walnut, please look carefully at all the photos to appreciate the detail in this amazing piece.
