GBD Natural Bent Billiard 9685UNSMOKED
The GBD Natural line did not have a long production run, and I have seen only one other for sale in recent years. It\'s safe to say that this shape and finish do not often come up for sale. The fact that this example is unsmoked makes it a great find for an avid collector. In attempting to date this pipe, we find it stamped with the linear\"London England\" on the right shank, and a brass \"GBD\" rondelle set in the left side of the stem. These two clues place it\'s production, with certainty, still in the classic era prior to the company becoming one with Comoy\'s around 1981. After the mergerthe round \"Made in London England\" stamp was used.A visit to the GBD page of the Pipedia.com website will provide you with some otherinteresting history surrounding this famous marque.
This \"Natural\" shows off some pretty nice cross grain and birdseye free of any fills, with the classic shape providing ample wood in the walls of the chamber,and is fitted with a comfortable vulcanite saddle stem. This pipe is in pristine unsmoked condition, and will make a unique addition to any collection. I purchased the pipe new in 1979, and wonder now how it never made it into my rotation!
