This is a large piece of a Vintage Tongan Tapa Bark Cloth Tapestry from the South Seas that I acquired when I lived in Hawaii.

I have been told it is specifically Tongan Ngatu and that these amazing pieces were made by groups of women and given as gifts. I like it because the design is more figurative than geometric.

This wonderful piece is big enough to make a wrap aroundbottom as well as atop, or a traditional double layered skirt. I think it would also be great made into lampshades and/or throw pillows.

It is about 72\" long by about 22\" wide, handcrafted, completely genuine, very old and loaded with imperfections (including holes, lifting and separation of the layers of cloth as well as a water stain) - just what you\'d expect to see in a piece of Bark Cloth this old.
