Georg Jensen, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, began hiscareer as a silversmith with the opening of his first business in Copenhagen,Denmark, in 1904, towards the end of the Art Nouveau period, and leading intothe Art Deco era. Jensen design isassociated more with the contemporaneous Arts & Crafts Movement, whichemphasized a more austere aesthetic over opulent design. Johan Rohde wasa Danish artist who first commissioned Georg Jensen to create silver for hisown use. The two were so mutually impressed with each others\' work thatan influential collaboration was established.
