Bound in full, highly decoratedgreen leather covered boards,features raised bands on the spines, gilt text and decorations in the compartments and 22kt gold gilt tool work on the boards.

The edges of the text blocks are gilt and there is a matching silk placement ribbon sewn-in at the head of the spines. The binding is meticulously Smyth-sewn and the archival quality paper is specially milled.

A Republican, he had previously served as the43rdVice President of the United States(1981–1989), acongressman, an ambassador, andDirector of Central Intelligence. He is the oldest former President and Vice President, and the last former President who is a veteran ofWorld War II. Bush is often referred to as \"George H. W. Domestically, Bushreneged on a 1988 campaign promiseand after a struggle with Congress, signed an increase in taxes that Congress had passed. In the wake of a weak recovery from aneconomic recession, along with continuing budget deficits, he lost the1992 presidential electionto DemocratBill Clinton because H. Ross Peron ran as a 3rd party canidate to split the GOP vote...no one knows yet how or why the Clintons persuaded Perot to run and split 60% of what would have been the Bush vote. Clinton only won by a dismal 39%. But Bush got the lasthurrah because the country elected his son, George W. Bush as President of the United States of America to not just one, but two terms.

Bush left office in 1993. Hispresidential librarywas dedicated in 1997, and he has been active—along with President Clinton—in various humanitarian activities that have helped Clinton revive his public image after numerous scandals and being Impeached. Bush\'s eldest son,George W. Bush, later served as the46thGovernor ofTexas(1995–2000) and as the43rdPresident of the United States (2001–2009), becoming one of only two presidents—the other beingJohn Quincy Adams—to be the son of a former president (with other familial presidential relations being the Harrisons asgrandfather-grandson, as well as theRooseveltsbeing5th cousins). His second son,Jeb Bush, served as the43rdGovernor ofFlorida(1999–2007).
