Up for offer an original George Nakashima bench.Originally purchased in 1958.
This bench features a large walnut plank with an amazing grain pattern which resembles an eagle.It is an unsigned Nakashima, (many of his pieces were unsigned)Measures 74\" x 14\" x 21\"
Condition:The walnut is in great condition, minor signs of use when inspected closely.This bench would have originally had only three legs. One leg was added at a later time.The legs have damage along the edge, and is being sold as is.I want the new owner to have the option in restoration, that is why I\'m selling in current condition.
Current market value of Nakashima\'s benches range from $7,000 to as high as $45,000.
I\'ve taken into account the damage and starting the offerding at $4,250.

George Katsutoshi Nakashima1905 –1990) was an Americanwoodworker,architect, and furniture maker who was one of the leadinginnovators of 20th century furniture design and a father of theAmerican craftmovement.

Nakashima\'s signature woodworking design was hislarge-scale tables made of large wood slabs with smooth tops but unfinishednatural edges, consisting of multiple slabs connected withbutterfly joints.

Over the past decade, hisfurniture has become ultra-collectible and his legacy of what became known asthe \"free-edge\" aesthetic influential.
