German Army officers and NCOs of WW2 often carried special dress bayonets during parades and other functions when they were in uniform but off duty. These privately purchased bayonets usually featured well plated blades, and carried faux rifle attachments. This German Army WW2 OFFICER NCO ERNST PACK KS-98 DRESS BAYONET is in very good condition, with some scattered scratching and scabbard wear to the blade, a bit of spot patina at each side of the blade,some brownish soiling to the right handle scale, some patina to the metal handle scale rivets,some scattered dark pitting to the guard, some surface chipping at the right side of the pommel, and with some scattered age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the bayonet is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 7 5/8\" dagger style blade, sports tough checkered black plastic handle scales, and is stamped to the famous \"E. PACK & SOHNE / SOLINGEN\" at the ricasso. It carries red felt inside the faux rifle attachment at the pommel, and is complete with the original German WW2 metal scabbard in very good condition, with some roughly finished spots at the lower front, two small surface chips at the lower back, and with some scattered scratching, spot patina, and age wear evident (most pictured). Otherwise, the scabbard is in fine shape, with absolutely no cracking or other damage, and retains approximately 85% of the original black finish.
