Vintage German impressionist landscape oil painting by Adolf Schmittof the St. Bartholomä theCatholic pilgrimage church on the edge Konigssee (King\'s Lake)in the Berchtesgaden District of Bavaria in Germany. It isnamed for St. Bartholomew (Bartholomäus in German). The church is located on the western edge of the Königssee (King\'s Lake) on the peninsula of Hirschau. It can only be reached by ship or after a long hike. The chapel originated in part in the 12th century. Since the 16th century it has been in the baroque style. St. Bartholomew is said to be the protector of alpine farmers and of milkmaids. St. Bartholomä has two onion domes and a red domed roof. In the background the fabule Watzmann (5700ft). It is the highest peak standing entirely within Germany. A serious and challenging climb is the famous East Face (Watzmann-Ostwand), which rises from the Bartholomä peninsula at lake Königssee to the main peaks in a vertical ascent of around 5900ft(the longest wall in the Eastern Alps). This painting is signed on the lower right and on the back. This painting is frame in a pine gold gild frame. This painting measures 24\" by 30\" and framed 30\" by 36\".
