Up for sale a German sterling silver and blue enamel with guilloche handled compact depicting a French Watteau inspired scene on the lid. The enameled lid depicts a standing gentleman playing a lute for the pleasure of 2 seated ladies in a bucolic landscape. The goldtone interior reveals 2 compartments- one for rouge and the other for powder. Some powder and rouge still present as well as a powder puff. On the interior edge it states \"Sterling 935 HK Made in Germany\". The compact measures without the handle 2.5\" x 1.75\". Good condition with normal signs of age and use with slight wear to the mirror and darkened smudges of rouge. Slight wear to enamel at the top of the Watteau scene. See photo.
