Ghana 1961 Queen Elizabeth Ii Royal Visit Set Sg 271-3 In Full Sheets Of 15 Mnh:
This is a rare opportunity to offer on a series of complete sheets of early Ghana stamps, most of which are in full sets, from a cache dating from immediately after Independence in 1957 to the early 1970s, that has recently been discovered.
Some of these still have the original printer's protective interleave sheets between the sheets (these are included within the photos ,where applicable).
Most have not seen the light of day for 40/50 years and are therefore "Post Office Fresh".
The photos for each listing, which form part of the description, show the condition and more information is available on request.
Many of the individual stamps and sets from Ghana in the 1950s & 1960s are are commonplace but full sheets, particularly in good condition and in complete sets, are not.
These listings would be of particular interest to anyone who specialises in Ghana, as complete sheets are essential for any advanced collection.
Some will also be of interest to Thematic collectors with topics as diverse as Abraham Lincoln, the United Nations, Ships and Royal Visits all featuring in the listings at some stage.
This is an instance where the notional catalogue "value" is virtually irrelevant, so pricing is based on what I consider to be a realistic figure for both purchaser and seller: hence I aim to set the starting amount in each sale at a competitive figure with the item priced to sell.
I am currently listing a number of these sets of complete sheets - so please look at my other sales - and will be adding more as I receive details of them.
