You are offerding on a truly fantastic item. This is a vintage, antique shark tooth club or sword that measures an impressive 38 inches long and shows incredible workmanship in its construction. I saw a collection in the Charleston South Carolina Museum that showed this exact item in a case with other shark tooth weapons and implements and this item is in near perfect mate to the one they have in the display case except this one is quite a bit larger.The display indicated that the items in themuseum collection dates to the 1850s and I suspect this item would be the same age. The item is fashion of wood; I would think likely palm wood as it is quite light, with the use of palm fibers to attach the teeth. If you look closely you can still see a collection tag attached to the handle with some small part of the script still visible. I am going to post the best scan I can get of that tag this evening, my time. The lucky winner may know some way of bringing out more of the lettering. This item is from a very fine old US collection that came in part from a very fine Victorian English estatecollection. I will ship this item to the lower 48 for only $20.00 and that will include insurance. All others only true postage and insurance, if you want it, nothing extra for handling or packing.
