From Badger and BladeThe first safety razor using the new disposableblade went on sale in 1903 and was just called the Gillette Razor. Today thisfirst razor is called by the shave community, the doublering. This is due to the fact that there are twodecorative rings underneath the head. The Single Ring was the second modelrazor Gillette produced. Sometime in 1906, Gillette razors with only a singlering started to appear. We can only presume this change was made to lowerproduction costs. These continued to be produced up until 1921 when the firstAristocrat appeared.
The razor is attractive and seems to be in reasonably nice condition, considering its age.There is significant plating loss and wear evident on the handle. The head shows some plating loss and wear (also some surface blemishes from normal use), but maintains much luster as well.There is a crack (common in this type of razor) beginning in the neck area of the handle.Some of the tongs on the comb are bent slightly inward.
