They have been tested to make sure they work, and are set for one-way bulbs. They have pull chains, and the lighting options are the main socket or the light inside the lamp. They do not have an option to have both lit at the same time. The sockets say Mitsuboshi on them and there is a date of 1981 on the cords. I do not know the age or size of the bulb inside the lamps, as there is no way to get to it without taking them completely apart. The porcelain is 8.5\" wide, and the wood bases are 5.5\" wide. There are fragile rice paper shades on the inside of each one to diffuse the interior bulb. They each have several rips near the symbols, which can be seen in the pictures. The porcelain on each is in great condition. Each lamp shows two cherry trees, plus two sets of symbols. The harps are the kind that do not come (GS 6.6.6 (526))
