Hello, I have an extremely rare sleeve of U.S. Royal, Made by U.S. Rubber Company. 1938-1940. I caddied in the 1940s. I am nearly 84 years old. I have been in golf for a long time. I have never seen this kind of construction in a package or sleeve of golf balls. These balls were made in the late 1930s. These balls were sold in 1940. This is because during the war all rubber articles were for war items only. All golf ball companies were forced to stop allproduction of golf balls except some that were made with synthetic materials and most of these balls were used only on military base golf courses. Most materials were rationed. We had ration stamps for meats and butter and cheese and other foods. Gasoline was rationed too. Our Pro-Shop sent old used golf balls to Chicopee Mass [Spalding] to be repainted and the these repaints were sold at our Pro-Shop. This sleeve of balls were sold with this yellow band added to the sleeve. NEW 1940 U.S. No more Balls were made until the end of the war 1945. New balls were sold in 1946 with the pre-war packaging that all companies had left over from when these companies were forced to stop production.. I have never seen a sleeve made like this. \"VERY RARE\". Please ask questions and check my responses. Thank you, Don. By the way, I carried a bag for 50 cents= Nine holes.
