This antique folding hand fan is simply to die for! I\'ve never seen something so ornate! I tried to do a little research on this item, as I am not a fan expert. I believe it dates to the 1850\'s or 60\'s, and was made in France or England. It is composed of a lithographed? and hand painted paper leaf, pierced and silver gilded/inlaid bone blades, highly ornate guards featuring a cameo and a mirror!, MOP rivet, brass loop, and fabric thread tassle. The subject matter involves cavorting cupids, young shepherdesses being courted by young men, and water scenes. The colors are blues, grays, purples, and metallics. Very decadent! There a couple of condition issues: one of the blades is broken at the shoulder (see pic). There is also an old repair on the reverse side of the guard which features the cameo. I\'m also wondering if the cameo is an old replacement for a broken mirror. Overall though, it\'s truly wonderful to behold.
