Here for your offerding consideration is this most lovely antique lace table runner in a nice large size of about 47” long by 20” wide! This is just so pretty! It is made of delicate ivory cotton and seems to exhibit many beautiful lace making techniques, with areas of fine, tiny mesh, and spiderweb-y needlework, to leaves made of minute satin stitches. An exuberant floral medallion graces the center of this oblong runner, from which springs forth sprigs of flowers and sinewy leaves in a sort of oval pattern. I’m guessing it is French in origin. I wish I could identify the lace styles presented here. I’m afraid I don’t know much about that, but I do know that this piece is a beauty! It is in generally very good condition for a Victorian piece. I did fine five tiny breaks in the threads, and there may be more that I missed. I have attempted to show this age related wear in the last two pictures. Soft to the touch, this enchanting example of lace smells clean, too!
