This radio is in great cosmetic condition.This radio only needs to be displayed and enjoyed.

Non-working, receives buzz sound only. Tthe chassis seems to be complete. As a reminder, these vintage radios are not meant for everyday use, nor should they be played for extended periods of time. Shipped to the lower 48 with loving care. Double boxed and very well packed.

The Emerson model 540/540A, introduced inearly 1947, features a tiny cabinet housing anAll-American-Five (AA5) AC/DC superhet tuningthe standard broadcast band. It was offered ina choice of four different colors of plastic:-walnut bakelite, ivory plaskon, red plaskon andmint green plaskon. All had black bullet styleknobs. The 540 was advertised as \"the world\'ssmallest ac/dc superhet\" and in walnut it had anoriginal list price of $19.95. Other colors werepriced $5 more at $24.95.The cases are very fragile and as a resultrelatively few have survived. Today, the 540 ishighly collectible and the red and green ones inclean, undamaged condition can command aprice that runs into four figures!Frequency coverage is from 540 -1620kc. The540 uses the AA5 miniature tube complement:-12BE6 (mixer/LO), 12BA6 (IF amp), 12AT6(2nd detector/AVC/1st AF), 50B5 (AF output)and 35W4 (rectifier). 540A Schematic.The 540\'s styling is very similar to the pre-warEmerson CF-255 from 1939.
