Gorgeous Signed Frank Patania Sterling And Coral Earrings:
A beautiful vintage pair ofearrings from the famous Thunderbird Shop of Frank Patania, Sr. FrankPatania opened his shop in Santa Fe in the late 1920's. He later opened a second location in Tucson. He employed many skilled Native American craftspeople to execute his designs. Among Patania alumni are Julian Lovato, Joe Quintana, and Lewis Lomay. These earrings are a classic Patania design. Each earring is set with two excellent salmon coral cabochons. The tiny black mark in one stone is a natural flaw and it is hardly visible to the naked eye. They were originally clipbacks, which would date them to the 1950 -60 period. They have been converted to pierced posts, but the clips are preserved andby removing the post you could wear them as clips. They are hallmarked "FP Sterling". Unfortunately the hallmark is partially obliterated by the posts, but they are undoubtedly Patania earrings. The earrings are 1 1/8 inch long and 3/4 inches wide. The pair weighs11.8 grams and is in excellent vintage condition.
