Other Details: This gorgeous pendant was made by the excellent artist, Steven Pooyouma, son of Allen Pooyouma. He was most active 1970s-90s, starting his career at Hopicrafts in 1974. He started using this Medicine Bowl pictograph in 1977. This is a seriously beautiful piece of wearable art! Hopi overlay involves 2 sheets of Sterling Silver. In better pieces, the bottom layer is both textured and oxidized, providing depth and additional shadowing. The upper layer is judged by the beauty, balance, and precision of the cut and design. This one hits all those dead center! The turtle represents Mother Earth, creation,protection, longevity and precious water. Overall, this is a stunning pendant for any collector that is fully suitable for wearing.
This is a beautiful find in wonderful condition! Way too much quality antique and vintage jewelry has been going into the melting pots in recent years. By definition, this is not going to expand the availability of good pieces. This will only gain in monetary value over the years!
