Obi RemnantThis gorgeous length of medium-heavy weight fabric is cut from a disassembled vintage Japanese obi....the very long opulent wide sash worn around the waist by geisha.
This piece is a woven tapestry of rayon (or possibly silk?) fabric with shades of silver lame and black threads woven to make the stylized pattern on a goldish-yellow ground.The lame threads offer a slight bit of luster to the weave.
Because the obi is worn folded in half, the is a very slight definition of the original fold line down the middle of the length of the fabric.The last pic shows the back side of the fabric where you can see the long threads.
It is in excellent -very good condition with exception of the above mentioned fold line as well as the original seam lines next to the edges. And chances are there is a very faint blemish or two as this was once a worn accessoryMeasures 14\" x 61\"
