We are pleased to offer this important Gorham swan seated in crown tea service.

It bears Gorham\'s rare lion facing right mark.

Used only two years c1863.

Offered by Starr & Marcus the famed 1860s New York City retailer.

Examples in Museum of the City of New York.

Fashioned in the manner of ancient drinking vessels.

Elegant twin vine and tear drop panels to mid-section.

The domed covers with brilliantly fashioned reclining swan in crowne finial. The crown rims with \"jewel\" framed accent. Original fasteners.

Acanthus and interwoven vine panel spout.

Finished with twin vine framed acanthus cap angular handles. Ending in cascading leaf and vine below.

Never monogrammed.

Gorham coin silver swan & crown coffee pot 8 1/2 inches and 32 1/2 standard ounces.

The teapot is 8 inches handle to spout and 27 standard ounces.

Sugar vase 6 inches 18 1/2 standard ounces.

Waste bowl 6 inches 12 1/2 standard ounces.

Cream jug 5 1/2 inches 12 standard ounces.

The entire crowned swam tea service weighs 102 standard ounces.

The set bears Gorham\'s most rarely seen hallmark.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The beautiful floral sprays retain their original crisp, vibrant hand chased detail. Stands perfectly firm on table or display shelf. The swan in crowne finial and anthemion and border work retain most all of their original detail. Bit of loss to heat stops, handles secure and few barely noted scuffs.
