GORHAM STERLING SILVER PITCHER; EWER; SPECIAL HALLMARKED; MADE c1905; EXCELLENT CONDITION

We are pleased to offer this important turn of the century Gorham sterling special hallmark ewer.

Retailed by Hardy & Hayes, Pittsburgh. Opened their doors in 1885.

Inverted pear panel fluted rising to tapering neck. Leaf and vine shield with Gothic B. The shield suspended from flowing ribbon panel. United by fruit and floral garland.

Elaborately cast leaf framed urn and trumpet finial, above bead and petal, atop grape leaf, fruit and floral with flowing ribbon.

Acanthus and folded edn strap and oval cap handle. Original heat stops.

Atop winged vine and fan cap leaf and scroll feet.

Gorham sterling special hallmark pitcher is 9 1/2 inches weighs 21 1/2 (standard) ounces.

Hallmarked as shown. Including Gorham special hallmarks CHU (bit rubbed), see Carpenter\'s text on such marks below.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The shell and floral retain their original hand chased detail. Stands firm on table or museum display shelf. Mild wear.
