Gorham Sterling Silver 10\" Center Bowl, Floral Repousse Rim #A1338 NO MONO 1900s:
$379.00

Delightful solid sterling large center bowl made by Gorham in their pattern A1336. Bowl is in overall very-good condition for its age, with typical signs of use, cleaning, and storage. There is good texture on the hand-finished floral elements around the bowl\'s \"drooping\" rim. The droop serves to provide better visibility of the floral rim pattern and the contents of the bowl.A good level of dark oxidation remains, which enhances the floral pattern around the rim and sides. Check-out the zoom-in detail on our photos, and you\'ll see the floral elements \'pop\' out at you because of the oxidation. This bowl has NOT been over-cleaned, dipped, or buffed to remove the character that takes years to build.Hand-chasing appears to have been used to enhance what was initially a machine-spun bowl with an embossed floral repousse pattern on the exposed upper rim. No monograms or removal. Upper rim is 10\" diameter, with 4\" dia center base/foot, and stands 2-3/4\" high. The bowl has a good weight, showing approx 11.4 oz on my postal scale (324 g). The bowl does have signs of use, and a \'pin-prick\' in the center area at the bottom of the bowl (completely hidden when bowl is in use). See photo 6 at end of ruler (bowl was tilted to highlight the ding).Although A1336 is an old-style pattern number (early 1900s), we do not see a Gorham date-mark on this bowl. Some photos show a dark shadow, which is a reflection of the camera/photographer.Shipping only to registered PayPal addresses in the US.
