RARE 1887 GORHAM STERLING SILVER PERSIAN COFFEE POT; EXCELLENT CONDITION
We are pleased to offer this extremely rare 1887 Gorham sterling silver Persian coffee pot.
Examples of 19th century Gorham Persian silver are much more rare than Japanesque. As much less was made.
In classic slender neck bottle form. Fashioned after centuries old Persian drinking vessels.
Delicate hand carved leaf and floral sprays on tiny pebbled surface. Rising from slender acanthus panels.
Thick well cast and fit panel fluted pavilion cover. Topped with unique twin shell finial.
The tapering S handle retains its beautifully hand wrapped wicker covering.
This rare 1887 Gorham sterling silver Persian coffee pot is 7 inches tall.
Exceptionally thick, heavy guage sterling construction 11 1/2 (standard) ounces.
Hallmarked as shown.
In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The beautiful floral sprays and shell decoration retains its original crisp hand chased detail. Stands perfectly even on table. The original wicker wrapping to handle in perfect state.
