The Bamileke resisted slave raids with suicide or rebellion, contributed very little to the Black population of theNew World. The artistic production of the people living in the Grassland ofCameroonis closely associated with royal and societal ceremonies. To assert his power, the king uses large figurines, thrones and prestige paraphernalia. Beautiful beaded objects are famous in the western world and highly value for the intricate bead works and wonderful designs.
