For years I owned several Gottlieb Solid State pinball games.
My favorite machines in this genre are Mars God of War (666) and Black Hole (668).
After successfully rebuilding several pins I always ended up with someone elses \'junk\' or \'hacked\' micro processor boards..

Old boards usually go somewhere between $50 and $100.
There is almost ALWAYS that eternal problem with the boot/display (masked) ROM\'s.
Thus the idea came to mind to redesign the System 80 MPU board with the masked ROM\'s U2 & U3 replaced by a COMBO EPROM
which I integrated on the new design called the \'8T MPU\'.
This board can operate ALL games of system 80, 80A AND 80B.
(Three systems on 1 board.)

Specially for System 80B there\'s solder pads on the back which only need to be soldered to short and no more jumpers necessary at the display end of the MPU.

Best upgrade so far is the replacement from the 5101 RAM chip for a RAMTRON NVRAM.
This Non Volatile (NV)RAM does NOT need anymore battery backup power for keeping your score(s) and bookkeeping setting(s).
This baby holds all of the memory for 30+ years without any questions or power.

Of course this great product fits all Gottlieb System 80 Games, from regular System 80 to System 80A and 80B!!!!
U2 & U3 have been replaced by a 2764 EPROM, so no more masked ROMs in these locations.

Added feature is the slam-switch override solder pads;
Just add some solder and your slam switch is disabled.
(Default at shipping is NO (Normally Open). For better quality connections between board and connectors,
these boards are now currently gold plated. No more solder/tin connections.

Best new feature is the IDE connector that replaces, if so desired, the cable harness between MPU & Driver Boards.
Just insert a regular 40 pin IDE computer cable from MPU to driver and connection between MPU & Driver is accomplished.
(Cable comes ONLY with purchase of the IDE Driver board, NOT with the MPU).

This IDE connector is compatible with Ni-Wumpf\'s design, so you can choose your own driver board.
I am all to keep things interchangeable between brands and I really hope other manufacturers pick up on this so we don\'t have to ask ourselves if it will work if I insert another brand.

Sound/speech boards are currently available and I got more Sound/Speech boards coming in end of this year (2016 for assembly.
All boards are limited in numbers since this is nothing more than an extended hobby.

another board after blowing it up for whatever reason. I can not keep operating this way.
So one more time: placing a new MPU board in your machine does NOT mean your other previous existing problems will go away!!!!!
Screwing around with a new MPU board is at your own risk.
Before I ship out your board, a video clip is made to document the full 100% functionality of that board.
Therefore there are no D.O.A.\'s. Your previous existing problem(s) in your machine stay(s) your problem
if you do not fix that issue BEFORE putting in a new MPU board. PERIOD and NO EXCEPTIONS. If you don\'t agree; DO NOT BUY!!!!

By now I know which buyers have reasonable grounds to return or swap their board, and that is no problem at all but I can not continue this operation
if people \'try\' boards, only to return them broken and want a full refund for their mistakes and me cleaning up their created mess. No more.
Either you use the item correctly or keep experimenting but in both cases your board will not be accepted for return and/or ANY refund given
UNLESS A RESTOCKING FEE OF 20% has been withheld IF a refund applies for those who insist to return their board.

Having said that, respect that I am fully occupied in building circuit boards and not being a pinball technician.
I don\'t know what is wrong with your machine, nor do I have the ability to troubleshoot your game over the phone.
Email me with questions if you have them. When you buy a board I guarantee it is working.
That\'s why I make video clips of your board in operation right before it NOT pull or attach connectors on Gottlieb MPU boards, or ANY boards for that matter, when powered ON.
(Your board will without any doubt collect damage when doing so anyway.)
Always insert game EPROMS and other connection-work with the POWER OFF.
This MPU is guaranteed to work for a full 100%. ALL units are tested for at least 24 continuous hours at full capacity.
Check old connectors and (under)playfield transistors from your game, these ARE KNOWN to cause solenoids to \'lock up\', overheat and fry.
Any bad connection will cause trouble. Gottlieb games are notorious for that. Your game frying solenoids? CHECK YOU CONNECTORS AND WIRING!!!!
Inserting a new MPU does NOT resolve your coil problem(s). I will NOT issue refunds for existing problems in your machine.
FIX THOSE PROBLEMS FIRST before blaming your new MPU board.
I am always willing to help out.
Making solderings to the board, hacking, modifying \"McGyver-ing\" and/or any other self inflicted experiments will void any guarantee.
Since all IC\'s are socketed there is absolutely NO need to solder.
Gottlieb pinballs are FUN pinballs when treated correctly.
When there is a problem with your machine, putting in a NEW MPU board doesn\'t mean your problems will go away. CHECK ALL YOUR CONNECTORS AND WIRING.

I DO NOT ACCEPT stories how your machine exploded or telling me how grandma lost her hearing because the product is a hazard. IT IS NOT A HAZARD, OK?
These boards are tested and WORKING, PERIOD.
The only thing not set right on my end could be an EPROM select because I do not know what Game EPROM you are going to install.
(That\'s an easy fix). CHECK YOUR MACHINE BEFORE BLAMING SOMEONE ELSE.
I am NOT responsible for you, your machine and/or your property when ANY damage may occur.
I recommend when you buy a Gottlieb pinball game to NOT leave it on overnite but keep a close eye on it
because you do not know what the problem might be with your new purchased pinball.
Gottlieb pinballs need close inspection(s) on the connectors and contacts. You lack that step, you will ruin your game
by frying your solenoids, I guarantee it.

When in doubt or having trouble with your machine, CONTACT ME before experimenting!
Nothing is more annoying to clean up someone elses \'mistakes\' and I will refuse to do so.
