Short sword. Bolo is a general name in the Philippines for a sword or long knife. The word is Spanish and means knife.
I won these at an sale - even though I didn\'t know what they were, I knew they were unique & the real deal. I put photos of them on \'s Discussion Boards where it\'s believed that the handle on the sword is made from water buffalo horn (See extensive photos; handle has a smooth beautiful honey brown patina that fits the hand comfortably) NOTE: After having someone look at it closely it is now believed that the handle is a very old wood & the rich patina gives the effect of being horn.A pair of excellent examples of turn of the centuryPhilippinefighting weapons.
Sword is 24\" long with the blade being 18\" & the handle 6\"/ It has signs of being in a battle (see photos).
Knife is 12 3/4\" long with the blade being 7 1/4\" & the handle 5\". It has a 1/2\" metal band between the 2.
