An original Greenback Currency Note from the 1880 Presidential campaign ofJames B. Weaverrunning on the Greenback party label. Although many people associate this party with the campaign of Benjamin Franklin Butler, he was the 1884 candidate--and not the 1880 candidate. Butlerwas a famous Union General during the Civil War, known as the \"Beast of New Orleans\" because of his savage treatment of the residents there while he served as military commander. He did run in 1884, but this note is from the 1880 campaign. The original notes were blank on the reverse, and this one was printed on the reverse by an enterprising Boston merchant, George H.
