The dark color on lid is where it is not cleaned to bare metal has some miner rust and pits on lid top not bad mostly just surface rust needs to be cleaned and seasoned i did not want to use sand paper only cleaned up a little bit with steel wool and put olive oil on it to keep it from rusting this lid will clean up real nice thanks
