VINTAGE GURLEY Thanksgiving CANDLE
LARGE TURKEY, APPROXIMATELY 6-1/2\" TALL
AND 4-1/2\" ACROSS AT THE WIDEST POINT
This TURKEY candle has the cardboard base
with the Gurley logo on it and is marked 98 cents.
I have other Gurley candles for sale this week,
please check them out.
The Gurley Company has been out of business
since the 80\'s but these candles are much older than that.
I would guess that this candle was produced in the 50\'s or early 60\'s
based on the price marked on the underside of the base.
The candle wick has not been burnt, not even partially.
Gurley candles are so decorative that most people
did not burn them as candles,
instead they kept them as decorations
and used them year after year at Thanksgiving.
I purchased this turkey at a moving sale;
the couple was downsizing and moving to Florida.
The lady told me she purchased this candle more than 50 years ago.
