Antique Gurley transit in good to very good condition everything works as it should, including
compass and needle lock, fully extended scope is 13\" OD on brass compass bezel is 6\".
While cleaning this beauty a few years back I found the number 86 stamped on the upper
vernier plate under the upper tangent screw. If memory and research are correct and the
86 stands for 1886 as it should, this could be one of the earliest if not the first bent leg
Gurley transit to be made. Cross hairs are present, there are a few little lumps on the
lines and they do not appear to be perfectly centered. The transit focuses as it should,
however the lenses could use a light cleaning also one of the vertical motion lock screw is
not correct and it is missing the little brass nub that closes the shutter on the eye piece.
This beautiful, early Gurley transit ships to the lower 48 States only, via UPS ground
