This is a very interesting GYRO DIRECTION INDICATOR.It is manufactured by GARWIN Inc, located in Wichita Kansas.The sticker on top of the instrument lists several details about the instrument and the company name, it is listed as a Model No 4000 with the revision letter A stamped in the metal area of the label.Below the label is a faint white paint stamp that reads \"OCT 2 1967\", below that is another stamp marking that looks like the letters \"WK\" above a number \"2\" character, all enclosed in a circle.one of the sides has the number \"820119 501\" stamped in white ink, followed by the Letter \"C\" and a round logo that looks like \"M 34\" enclosed in the circle.Backside has 2 blue colored supply fittings where the vacuum source originally connected to, and a cap plug screw in a 3rd opening on the backsideThe front side glass is in good shape, no nicks no cracks, and there is a small logo and name that reads \"MOONEY\" on the glass.
The knob to turn the compass card is in good shape but sticks a bit in some position but it will come back out, spring out, after you push it in to adjust the compass card.The glass is about 2 inch in diameter, the housing is about 3.375 by 3.375 inch and about 4 inch deep.
No dents or other clear markings on the outside to indicate the instrument was dropped or misused.
Compass card turns and has free movement/ swings a few degrees (3 to 5 degrees on the scale) if you tilt the instrument by handPlease see the pictures for more detail about this instrument and the details on its markings and stickers.Again, not in airworthy state now, sold as-is; will make a great item for decoration item on a desk or display case or to use for ground school or make a cut-away display instrument.
