Thislate 1800’s - early 1900’s Germany tin color lithograph double rattle depictsan Asian man in robes smoking – what, we don’t know. Measuring about 6 3/8” long by 2 5/8” thick by ½” thickor “tall” when it is placed on a flat surface, its surface color has faded & severalsmall “pieces” of its color lithograph have flaked off. This would havebeen bright, perhaps even shiny when new. Its red handle, intricate abstract borderin gold, turquoise, silver, gold, red, & gold background + the man in theoriginally bright red & gold hat or turban, robe, & blue belt & ofcourse the noise it could make when rattled make such trinkets popular with allthe children. Eventually the hammers for making the “noise” would be brokenoff, “lost”, the toy discarded.
